Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini hailed Saturday’s 2-0 win away at Lazio as his team’s best so far this season.
One goal each from Davide Zappacosta and Rasmus Hoilund helped the team collect three important points and move up to third in the table at this time. Throughout the game, the team had more chances to score 23 times per 10 times, which Gasperini cited as the team’s best game this season.
“It was probably our best performance this season. Especially considering the level of the competition,” Gasperini said.
“It was one of those games that gave us a lot of confidence, playing against Lazio who beat us earlier in the season. After we’ve done poorly this season.
“I could feel from the sidelines that it was a really enjoyable game and it was great. But also because Lazio played good football and the first half was a very even game.
“Hojlund has this spirit, energy, intensity, but also technical quality that is just remarkable. He still has so much margin for improvement, too. He has very similar characteristics to Haaland, not just his face. He is so quick, he’s under 11 seconds over 100m and that’s not even trying very hard. Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career, he just gets stronger every day.”
